About Me

Terran ChurcherAs the founding member of Codegate in June 1994, establishing the business as an AIDC (auto identification) specialist, myself and the team aimed to help clients use new technologies to capture data electronically and therefore operate more efficiently and accurately. AIDC technologies, then predominantly bar code products, were well established in the retail sector, but their use in other sectors was somewhat limited. My vision was to bring the benefits of AIDC to other sectors including Transport & Logistics, Warehousing and Manufacturing.

I started Codegate while maintaining the role of CEO at Synergix, a successful distributor of AIDC products since 1988. Since then, Synergix has been purchased by the Midwich Group.

My previous lives have seen me as editor of ‘In-hand’ magazine and Southern Region Channel Manager for MSI International, latterly purchased by Symbol Technologies (now owned by Motorola), the world’s largest hand held terminal manufacturer. I have also spent three years as Finance Director of the Automatic Identification Manufacturers Association (AIM). I’m hoping to share some of the knowledge and insight gained from this long and varied career in the industry, here on this blog.
